What am I doing?

June 17, 2008

I am making an attempt to create a blog and I really do not know what I am doing. I am sure with a little practice perhaps I will know what I am doing. We will see about that. I have been reading some blogs, mostly folks related to me so now that I finally have a computer at home, I thought I would give it a try. I did a little flower gardening after work, cooked supper, packed lunches, doesn't sound very exciting, does it. My husband goes to bed quite early so I usually spend my evening on the computer because I am to tired to do anything else. Sometimes my dog, Rocky, a boxer decides to get up off the bed and pay me a little visit. Rocky is a almost 2 years old who I now love, but let me tell you I almost gave up on this dog. We had another boxer Oscar who developed lymphoma at the age of 3 and had to be put to sleep. My son thought that my husband needed to have another dog right away. My husband also has lymphoma, actually this is his 4th reoccurence. Oscar was with Pete through his stem cell, and he was always at Pete's side. Oscar was an amazing dog with a great personality, so human like, he could even say mama! Pete and Oscar had lymphoma at the same time. It was very hard on us when we had to say goodbye to Oscar. My oldest son Seth went and got another boxer for Pete. Well this puppy was unlike any other puppy! He was a bit aggressive and I would be left to hang out with him in the evenings, since my hubby goes to bed when the sun is still shining. This dog would just jump and attack me all the time, I used to jump and the kitchen table and be in tears, trapped in the kitchen with this dog, whom I did not like at all! My husband being a dog lover said he will be a good dog, just wait and see! One day I come home from work and he tore up the kitchen floor, he actually ate alot of it!! I wanted him to go! Well Rocky has turned out to be a pretty good and lovable dog! Who would have thought!!

Marla; this is a great start! And I love the title "Life is just a Chair of Bowlies." Tell us how you decided on that. I've never heard of a bowlie.
I sure enjoyed your stories about Oscar and Rocky. You're a good storyteller. Don't stop now!
God bless you.

As you can see I haven't worked on it for quite a while. I will explain the title one of these days. Thanks for stopping by. I have been reading for along time but wasn't sure how to post a comment. Pathetic, I am!

Hi Cliff,
Good to hear from you. Sorry to say that things are not good here. My dear husband passed away Sept. 10th. I'm so lost!

Hi Marla, Welcome to blog world.
Thank you so very much for the heads up on your new blog. I like it.
And I will forgive you for hiding it and yourself for so long. I know it is so hard for you to be without your husband. I lost one wife by divorce, that was hard. But I know losing one by death is so much harder.
Now to your blog, and you. I read your posts, they are great. Your family sure looks nice in the Christmas picture. Janell knows who is who, if we hang around here I have a feeling we will get to know some of the others.
One question, are some of those youngsters sitting beside you and your husband grandchildren or do you still have kids at home?

I thank you very much for reading my blog and if you wish, at any time you can add me to your reading list. I will reciprocate if you'd like.

Did you see the counter below my profile stuff (shows 38,xxx now). This would be a good time to put a SiteMeter on your blog, while you are just starting. I have it on all my blogs, besides giving a count it helps me figure out to some extent who is reading my blog. Then too, it does stastical things you will like.
It also tells how readers got there, like from Google, etc. If it was a search enging you can click on the link it will show you to see what and where your write-up is in relation to others on the topic being checked.
Best part of all, the one like I have is free, they do have a more exotic one for $$$$.

In regards to the family picture: the two older boys on the couch are our sons,Seth and Andy, the two girls are our daughters, Sheila and Emily. The two other guys John and Mark are with the girls. The two young boys Cain-11yrs and Braxton 2yrs are the best grandsons in the world! About the counter: I will have to figure out how to do that! I am not to good at this stuff yet, I am a work in progress!

Marla -

I have found you and your blog! And you don't have to remind me of who you are. I could never forget one of those famed Johnson girls. I wanted to be one of you when I grew up!

I was so saddened to hear of Pete's passing and can only imagine how lost you must feel. When Joyce died I felt like my world had stopped spinning and gravity had stopped working. I still have her speed dial in my phone and her email address in the address book. I still celebrate her birthday and not buying her a Christmas present is so odd. Take your time. Maybe use the blog as a catharsis. And don't worry....we'll be here when you get round to us. That's the beauty of the blogosphere.

Great start on the blog BTW. Now to read the rest of your posts.
