A Night Out!

I finally got out of the house this weekend. Don't get me wrong, I do get out of the house to work every day and to the grocery store. But Saturday my youngest sister Lynn and her husband Curt took me out for supper. We just stayed in town, because it was snowing and went to the new steak house here in Fremont. We had a nice evening, good food, conversation and some good laughs. I think I really needed that. I have only been out twice since Pete's death in September. I feel like I experienced a moment of freedom. My brother-in-law Curt said after our meal he was going to take me somewhere really special. Well we went to Walmart, now wasn't that special. I really don't like Walmart and that's probably why he said it. They had to pick up a few things, before the took me home. It was a good night! Lynn and Curt have really been great support for me and I love them both dearly. I have many things to post about and some of them will be about my husband. You will just have to bear with me as I journey into a new phase in my life. Thank you all for your support and know that you all bring me comfort and great encouragement. Why pay for a grief counselor when I get all of you for free!! Blessings to all of you!

Woo Hoo!! You went out for dinner and had some fun!!!
I'm glad to hear that. I see more dinners and fine conversations in your future.
:-)
You may not like Walmart, but Walmart likes you.

I look forward to reading your upcoming posts about your husband and anything else you decide to write about.

Totally Amen sister on not paying for a counselor. I went to one after my father died, mostly he just sat there with a box of tissues until I burned up all the appointments that my health care plan (that my husband pays for)would pay for.

Curt and Lynn sound like good people.

I enjoy hearing how much you loved your husband.

Hello Marla
Thanks for dropping in on the letter meme - I think you could do a lot with the letter M.
I think it is good to put your thoughts down on paper and we are all here to read and understand
Going to be really hot here this week so I'm going to be doing a lot of reading:)
Take care
Cathy

Good for you Marla ~ Glad you had a nice evening out with your sister and her husband.

I also look forward to reading about your husband and the life you had together.

He is just on the other side of life. You are on this side. One day you will be reunited. It is good to keep him in your heart. It is good to talk about him and revive memories.

Just take each day as it comes, resting in the deeply caring love of Jesus.

Hugs ~ FlowerLady

We are all ears.....oops all eyes (since we're reading not listening) as we pose as counselors. Though it seems you've got it all together more than most of us.

Very happy for your night out and some good laughter. It is the best medicine.

I'm visiting from ADHDme's blog. Just thought I would stop by and say "hi".

I also look forward to reading more about your husband. Sometimes it helps just to "talk" while you grieve. I am sorry for your loss.

Blessings, Heaven

I'm so pleased you had a nice time out.

Whenever I've been to the States I love shopping in Walmart! Wish there was one here in the UK.

I look forward to reading more about your husband too. :)

Yay! A night out on the town...and you topped it off with WalMart. Woo-hoo! ;)

I hope you have many more nights out enjoying a fine meal with good company.

I can't wait to read more of what you have to write about your husband, your life, anything. I find you very entertaining, inspirational and interesting.

Good for you for going out. It is all to easy to stay home in your comfort zone when you are down. So, pat yourself on the back and do it again real soon!!

That is wonderful that you had a good evening out for a change. I so enjoy getting out and visiting with other people occasionally! It does help!

I was reading how you miss your husband. I know that must be so hard. I'm glad you have this blog for therapy!!

Thanks for asking about my husband. He spent Saturday confused, Sunday sleeping, and today he is back to his normal self.

They are saying we might get an ice storm. I hope not. Maybe we'll luck out and get rain instead.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

Marla,
Grief has no timetable. It has only been a few months since you lost Pete - and he lost you.

There is nothing to bear with, and everything to understand...

The endlessly kind people I met in cyber space through blogging saved my life emotionally when I thought my heartbreak would never lift...
It toook almost a year, but even still sometimes their wisdom and loving carries me through a rough spot.

Hope that you find the same confort here :)

Genuinely,
Loving Annie

So glad that you had a chance to go out for something other than groceries....I am glad that your spirits are up a bit. Have you thought about taking a class of some kind....Knitting, sewing, yoga, arobics, or something else? It would get you out of the house a bit and get your mind on other things. Keep writing Marla, I love reading your blog.

Marla,

I lost my first husband when he was just 33 years old, so I know how difficult it must be for you.

I'm so glad you got out with your sister and BIL. It's good to get out. It seems to bring a bit of relief.

Praying for you, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed your outing.

Blessings,
Mary

Marla, I am happy that you got to go out. I think you are doing wonderfully. It is nice to have those guys. And of course your son is a lot of support (and help).

Yes, I think blogging or other cyber-activities is a nice way to bury yourself. I just holed up in a small cheap apartment, worked, and went to school. I even had an unlisted phone number. Only a few knew it, my kids of course did.
I think having a blog like this would have gotten me back into the 'stream' much faster. That is if I could bear to write and make Internet friends.
After a year or so I got a motorcycle and had 'freedom.' Guess you, as a lady, won't be doing that.

I'm so glad you got out and had a good time. "A cheerful heart is good medicine." Proverbs 17:22

Post about whatever is on your heart. The happy stuff and the sad. I'm looking forward to reading.

A night out is always a treat. How do those that eat out all the time enjoy it? I think it would get to be a drag. My husband drives truck and his treat is to stay home and have a home-cooked meal. Don't know why, I'm not a very good cook.

YES! Good Times. Walmart? Now that IS special. Those two are so kind. Isn't it great to have good relatives.
I didn't know you have a new steakhouse in town. We'll have to try and find it.

Hi Marla,
I found you through FlowerLady. I came here because you talked about being in Nebraska. I live in Lincoln. I just discovered blogging in October, and have 2 blogs, a garden one, and a Christian one. I am having trouble keeping up, and it will be interesting to see what gives when garden season starts.

I am sorry for the loss of your husband. It sounds like you went through quite a bit with the cancer. I'm glad you were able to get out and about with people who care about you.

Sue

Dinner and a movie - well, dinner and Wally World. It's still entertainment. I'm glad you got out, too. And that you find yourself in a better place. Take care.

Sounds like you have begun to heal that open wound and begun to see that new sunrise. It helps when friends lift our faces to the sky. Perhaps the journey on does not seem so lonely with blogging friends.

A trip to WalMart! LOL! We have to drive 30 miles one way to find a store like WalMart... anything bigger or better is another 30 miles - so, as much as I do not love WalMart, it is a necessity sometimes. And, you have to admit - it can be entertaining!
Anyway, it was good for you to get out and break your routine. It is sooooooooo easy to become a hermit. Don't ask how I know!
But you do sound better, girl. I am glad.
